I'm guessing this means prop 2 passed. I'm shocked, thought that the kkk supporting it would shoot it in the foot.

Actually, the way things are going in this country, the kkk support spurred more of the idiots to come out and vote.

Yeah but I figured the extras who came out to vote would go against them. *sigh*

People are so afraid of what they don't understand. The Christian churches here have whipped people into a frenzy over this. I watched the election results with this deep sense that we've got to do polirtics differently. The " Christian Coalition" is too well organized and we're still throwing cocktail parties.....

This is what really gets me...Christians ARE NOT the only ones that get married. Every religion has some sort of marriage. How long before the "Christian Coalition" makes it to where only Christian religions are the recognized legal marriage and all you other folks...TOO BAD????

Yeah, and don't think that's not on their agenda for later on, along with forbidding axcess to birth control, outlawing abortion and other conservative causes. They are not even " tolerant" of other beliefs or practices. I've heard a few say ( on TV, too) that the ban on witchcraft should be made a law again and then they quoted the Bible " thou shalt not allow a witch to live". Very scary people.

I feel ya...

I heard on the radio that it passed THREE TO ONE!!!! How could that have happened, when EVERYONE I've spoken to about it, including people who are somewhat conservative, thinks it's a bad, bad idea, if only for the fact that it even makes the legality of out-of-state heterosexual marriages illegal.

Who are these voters and where are they coming from?!?!?! (We need to know for the firing squad.)

They are obviously coming from the tiny towns that have about 1,500 to 2,000 population count that are so brainwashed by the single evangelical church being shared by two towns. You know the kind...the ones that preach that anything/anyone that does anything other than what "their good book" has written must be either converted and repentent of their ways or beaten to death. There is NO other way! Period!!!!
Unfortunately, there are MORE of these backassward towns than cities is this giant state and also, unfortunately our cities are being steadily overrun by these closeminded people...you know to help correct our sinning ways.

This ain't over

Easy, gal! Don't think this is over. Not by a long-shot. Sure, the intelligent designers are running roughshod over Kansas schools. The homophobes are voting their bigotry into law in Texas (they did that well before Prop 2, though). The justice department is being ordered to attack online porn. (I should tell you they're going after the BDSM-ers first, BTW)

All of this should be more than enough reason to look at why the fundies have done so well and how long ago they started planning all this. There's some indication it started in the late 70s. Our turn is coming, though. Hang onto that righteous indignation. Let it motivate you and yours to action.

At the risk of sounding elitist, I'm reasonably sure we average somewhat smarter than them. I refuse to believe that these bigoted fearmonkeys can use the System better than us. We lost one symbolic battle. We must, and will, win the war. I, personally, refuse to live in "The Handmaid's Tale".
